Why is archiving important?
If there is something that you cherish you should always assume that something could happen to it. Photographs, and documents are commonly the victims of fire, water, sun, ink and care damage. When this happens restoration is needed, however if you had archived these pieces no restoration would be needed only the reprinting of the ruined photograph or document. You'd be surprised at the types of damage we've seen, right before we learn it was the only photograph of, or the only one of that document.

While there will always be restorative services available that doesn't mean that your photograph or document can be instantly reestablished if it's completely destroyed or lost. Why take that risk? There are a number of ways to archive or backup your family's most cherished documents and photographs so that if need be they can be reprinted.

DVD or CD
While this may not seem like the most high tech solution, it's often the one that our clients pick after we've restored their damaged photograph or document. Disks are a handy way for clients to bring home their archived images, or to share them with family. Disks can also be easily stored in fire proof safes.

External Hard drives
Have become common practice of computer owners, and why not? They can be inexpensive and your files can be transferred directly from the computer onto it. Our procedure for archiving to external hard drives is we scan your images and save them into proper digital files on our systems, then when you come in you bring your external hard drive and we simply transfer the files to your external hard drive. Like any archive or backup you should store your external hard drive somewhere safe as we are not responsible to replace your files if you accidentally delete them, or damage your external hard drive.

Remote Archiving
This option is becoming more and more popular. Remote archiving means we host your backup files on our secure servers in our shop. What this means is that even if your house were to be destroyed you'd be able to come in and retrieve your archived files from our shop.

Share Your Photographs
Once your photographs or documents have been scanned and are stored digitally they become relatively easy to share with your friends and relatives. You should take advantage of this, set up annual family reunions in which you can not only get caught up with your family members but so you can swap family photographs. Bring a couple cds of photographs and hand them off to your loved ones. Everyone is going to want a copy of Grandpa wearing his rainbow suspenders at that 5 star restaurant anyway, why not bring a cd instead of getting them printed out?
